Domande Frequenti

Questions people ask before they climb in the hole

01

Why boars?

A cinghiale digs because it wants to. A tunnel boring machine digs because you paid for it. We aligned incentives: our machines want to. Give a cinghiale a hillside and it will produce a trench by lunch, entirely unpaid, purely out of spite for your garden.

02

Is it actually boring?

Extremely. That is the entire product. We simply do it with better lighting, better coffee, and a snout.

03

How fast do your machines dig?

Our current TBM, CINGHIALE-1 (nicknamed 'Nonna'), advances roughly one snail per hour — a snail being our proprietary unit of tunneling velocity. That is approximately 14x faster than the Italian permitting process, which remains our primary engineering bottleneck.

04

What do you do with the excavated dirt?

Bricks, obviously. Every meter of tunnel yields enough spoil for 4,300 terracotta tiles, one small hilltop village, and a shockingly good tomato bed. Surplus soil is sold as Autentica Terra Toscana in tastefully branded jars.

05

Do the boars find truffles down there?

Yes. Truffle recovery is not the mission but it has become the more profitable half of the business. Revenue split last quarter: 38% tunnels, 62% tartufo. We are, technically, a food company with a hole-digging problem.

06

Is it safe?

Safer than Italian surface traffic, which is our benchmark and also a very low bar. Tunnels are weatherproof, out of sight, and cannot be double-parked in. Each cinghiale wears a certified hard hat that it removes the moment nobody is watching.

07

Why do the machines snort?

Pressure equalization. Also morale. Early prototypes without the snort feature suffered a 100% crew resignation rate.

08

Can I ride in a tunnel yet?

You can queue for one. The Roma Loop opens 'presto' — a legally non-binding Italian time unit ranging from six weeks to one geological epoch.

09

How much does a tunnel cost?

Less than a high-speed rail line, more than a scooter. We accept euros, favors, and mid-tier Barolo. A deposit of one wheel of Parmigiano secures your place in the excavation calendar.

10

Are you hiring?

Constantly. We need geotechnical engineers, tunnel electricians, and roughly forty more boars. Boars apply by simply showing up at the portal and refusing to leave — a process we have found impossible to improve.

Grew up being told not to dig holes. Did it anyway. Now oversees every snout-first descent under the Apennines and personally approves each tunnel's espresso pressure rating.
